Larry Himmel Foundation is Helping Seniors in San Diego
One of the primary initiatives of the Larry Himmel Neighborhood Foundation is helping seniors in San Diego County who are struggling to make ends meet. For many older adults, the rising cost of living can make it difficult to pay for essential expenses like rent, utilities, and healthcare.
To address this issue, the Larry Himmel Foundation began providing financial assistance to seniors in need. Through this program, seniors can receive help with paying for bills, rent, medical expenses, and other essential costs.
Here is a note from Beatriz, pictured above. "I can not stress enough just the enormous blessing your generous check to cover my rent, meant to me. As I'd previously mentioned, I have exactly $100./month left for anything & everything over my basic living expenses. Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
The Foundation is funded through donations from individuals and businesses throughout San Diego. Its mission is to honor Larry Himmel's legacy by making a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
The work of the Larry Himmel Foundation has made a significant difference in the lives of seniors in San Diego County. By providing financial assistance and support, the Foundation has helped to ease the burden on older adults who are struggling to make ends meet.
The holidays can be a joyous time for family and friends, but for many, especially seniors who are isolated, it can be a tough part of the year. Gwendolyn reached out to the Foundation with a tragic story. Last year, she lost her husband of 37 years to cancer. Five months later, her 35-year-old son passed away. Gwendolyn also suffers from Crohn's disease and gets treatment once a month.
Her wish was to visit her daughter and grandkids in Orlando, Florida. I'm pleased to say thanks to our wonderful donors, we were able to surprise Gwen with a round-trip ticket to see her daughter for Christmas.
