San Diego's Hope
The Larry Himmel Neighborhood Foundation was established shortly after beloved television reporter and San Diegan Larry Himmel passed away from cancer at the age of 68.
Larry had a enormous impact on the people throughout our community. In his memory, the Larry Himmel Neighborhood Foundation has allowed Larry’s impact to grow even stronger.
Through our new program San Diego's Hope we have teamed up with Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego to provide those with brain & spinal injures a way to enhance the quality of their life. Those with brain & spinal injures are often over looked and we want to share their stories and help them.
Our goal with San Diego's Hope is to take kids who suffer from a life altering injury and make their life better. The impact of spending a day doing something he or she never even dreamed of being able to do is what we try to do.
Radio host, Mike Slater is one of our
biggest supporters and came up the
idea for the program. Through his
audience and power to connect with
those on the radio, we are able to
help those who are in need.
Whether it's cooking lessons at a top restaurant in San Diego for Jordi who wanted to be a chef, or playing basketball with Herm who was paralyzed from a drunk driving collision, we want to help.
We know that we won't be able to cure your son or daughter, but our goal is to enhance the quality of life and maybe put a smile on their face.
